Sri Lanka Association of Greater Washington (SLAGW), an affiliate of the Sri Lanka Association of Washington DC, focuses entirely on charitable activities. Since gaining tax exempt status in March 2002 our focus has been to assist educational and humanitarian programs in Sri Lanka. In addition, the board has approved several other charities as "Recommended and Approved Charities" for long term giving by donors and members of SLAGW.
Achieving 501(c) (3) status under the IRS code has provided an incentive for donors to contribute funds to worthy activities that are being carried out by SLAGW. These donations are exempt from federal taxes, and deductible to the extent of the law.
